ABOUT US

The Sirens Lounge joins venues offering restaurants, a salon, and some retail concepts that are inspiring a renaissance of the areas just around Durham’s fabled hotspot, Ninth Street.  Sirens makes its home in a structure originally constructed around 1911. The structure, which originally offered a soda shop, grocery store, and gas station, has been gutted and revitalized in keeping with its rich history and architectural beauty. This service station continues to carry on its tradition through the decades-- hence the name Sirens. In May 2008, the lounge went under new ownership and management.

Required by North Carolina law to operate as a private club (we do not sell enough food to qualify as a restaurant), The Sirens Lounge offers $1 memberships.  Memberships, which are available at the door, allow patrons an unlimited number of guests and discount entry fees.  Member information is used exclusively by The Sirens Lounge, and gives us the opportunity to let you know about special events and promotions.

In 2004 through 2007, Sirens won a spot on the Top 10 list for "Best Martini" in the Triangle and was nominated for the "Best Bar Scene" category in the Best Of Cityseach poll!!! In 2006, Sirens secured one of the Top 3 spots for the entire Triangle.

And, guess what??? The lounge is currently declared one of the 7 best spots for hot bartenders in the Triangle. We were also recognized by AOL Cityguide as one of the top five Conversation Bars in the Triangle for 2006, and were nominated for Best 2007. The Herald Sun declared Sirens the Best Private Club in Durham (June 2006) and our Independent readers secured us a spot as one of the top three in the Triangle. Thanks to our loyal patrons. We Love You!!! 

Sirens was featured in the September 14, 2006 issue of the Nation's Restaurant News in an article about fresh fruit infusions!  Check out the article here in the Beverage Trends Newsletter. Sirens features infusion martini specials every Monday. You can also look at our write-up on 10Best.com as one of the best nightlife spots in Durham. In December 2006, News Channel 14 featured Sirens as one of the three top spots for its New Year's Eve 2007 Bash: 'Fire & Ice' annual event.

In March 2008, MTV selected the lounge as a filming location for an upcoming television show; details TBA. In May, we were nominated for a Golden Leaf Award, a design excellence awards program sponsored by the Durham City-County Appearance Commission and Keep Durham Beautiful. We were also nominated for Best Cocktails in AOL City's Best 2008 program in Raleigh-Durham. Lots of good things happening at Sirens!
